1. Sophie lost her voice, what can I do?
Did you submerge your Sophie la girafe in water or run her through a dishwasher? If so, that is the most likely reason your squeaker stopped working. You see the whistle is attached to your toy using natural rubber. The lack of material around the whistle is another likely cause if you didn’t run your toy through the dishwasher or submerge her in water. Please note that the shape and size of the whistle is designed to fall inside of the toy and not out for safety purposes.
First we would like to apologize that your toy seems to have bypassed the vigilance of our quality control department if this is the case. Our products meet and exceed all European and US safety standards. However, it is possible that your toy might be defective.
2. Sophie’s spots are fading, what can I do?
It is perfectly normal for you to see Sophie’s colors fade. You must remember that the coloring is food grade paint for the safety of your child. Like humans as we age our hair changes colors, Sophie’s spots are her hair and as such they’ll fade and change colors with time.
To make sure that Sophie stays as bright and vibrant as possible please make sure you only sponge bathe the surface of Sophie with a damp cloth and soapy water. These instructions are noted on every box. If you don’t bathe Sophie properly, her colors will fade even more. IF YOU SUBMERGE SOPHIE IN WATER THIS WILL IMPAIR THE SQUEAKING DEVICE and although that may excite you, your baby will not be happy with you. Save Sophie la girafe’s squeak, spot clean!
4. How do I properly clean Sophie la girafe?
Vulli recommends you clean only the surface of Sophie la girafe with a damp cloth and soapy water. Cleaning instructions are on the package when you purchased Sophie la girafe.
5. The squeaker is removed of the Sophie’s body, what can I do?
We have noted that your Sophie la girafe product contained a defective whistle and we apologize for the incident. The whistle is fastened with natural rubber that is hand made. The lack of material around the whistle is most likely the cause of the problem. Please note that the shape and size of the whistle cannot leave the giraffe because it is larger than the diameter of the hole and is therefore not hazardous.
All of our products are tested and are in compliance with the legal European standards. However, it is possible that a product could contain a defect. We are sorry that your toy seems to have bypassed the vigilance of our quality control department.
6. What is the significance of the number on the Sophie’s leg?
Beginning in July 2011, every Sophie la girafe produced was given a batch number which is located on the back of one of her legs, thus enabling full traceability (production date and corresponding laboratories tests). Each number corresponds to a certified batch test done in a laboratory and confirms its compliance with European and worldwide standards.
Vulli takes great pride in making sure that the quality of its products exceeds all expectations. For over 50 years, our customers have trusted us and we have and will continue to do everything we can to uphold our reputation.
7. The natural rubber can age and may change over time?
Sophie the Giraffe is made from 100% natural rubber and it’s important that you’re aware of this fact. Natural Rubber is a material that can and will change over time.
Some precautions and recommendations are necessary to keep Sophie la girafe at her best. As notated on the packaging: “Examine the product carefully before each use, especially when the child has teeth. Pull the product in all directions and discard it if it shows the slightest sign of deterioration or fragility. Do not expose to direct sunlight and keep away from sources of heat.”
Generally speaking, you shouldn’t give a child a Sophie the giraffe that has been stored for several years. Vulli has and will always place the quality of its products at the heart of our interests. For over fifty years customers have trusted us and we will continue to make every effort to not disappoint them.
